Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Seadov Parrot, often admired for its red, yellow colouring, is a bulb variety especially well suited to borders.

Tulipa 'Seadov Parrot' is a richly dressed Parrot tulip, prized for its finely cut, serrated petals and painterly colour. Each bloom opens with a green-flushed base that graduates into deep crimson red—an assured choice for mid to late spring borders, and particularly handsome in statement pots near the front door.

With an upright habit to 45cm, it brings height and theatre without heaviness. Plant in autumn into fertile, well-drained soil, and choose a sheltered position to keep the show looking immaculate in spring.

  • Flowering: April–May
  • Best for: borders, pots & containers, and cutting
  • Style note: exquisite when paired with deep purples, soft creams, or fresh spring greens

Where to Plant:

Tulipa 'Seadov Parrot' (Tulip) needs full-sun and a warm, sheltered position for the best flowering. Plant into fertile, humus-rich soil that drains well, and choose a spot protected from strong winds, especially for taller varieties.

How to Plant:

Plant bulb from September to December once conditions are suitable. Set them at the correct depth for the variety, spacing 10–15cm apart where relevant, then firm in gently and water well after planting.

Aftercare:

Water regularly in dry weather and feed every two to three weeks once buds appear. Stake taller stems early and deadhead to keep plants flowering. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally before lifting or protecting bulb according to local conditions.
