Purple Flag, often admired for its rich purple colouring, is a bulb variety especially well suited to borders.

Tulip ‘Purple Flag’ is a dependable Triumph tulip in a rich, regal purple—ideal for planting in bold, confident drifts through borders, or for bringing a tailored note to spring pots and containers. With neat goblet-shaped blooms held on sturdy stems, it also makes a smart choice for the cutting garden.

Plant in autumn for flowering in April–May. For the most refined effect, repeat generously and allow the colour to sing in clean blocks, or pair with whites, silvers and fresh spring greens.

Where to Plant:

Tulip 'Purple Flag' needs full-sun and a warm, sheltered position for the best flowering. Plant into fertile, humus-rich soil that drains well, and choose a spot protected from strong winds, especially for taller varieties.

How to Plant:

Plant bulb from September to December once conditions are suitable. Set them at the correct depth for the variety, spacing 10-12 cm apart apart where relevant, then firm in gently and water well after planting.

Aftercare:

Water regularly in dry weather and feed every two to three weeks once buds appear. Stake taller stems early and deadhead to keep plants flowering. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally before lifting or protecting bulb according to local conditions.
