Tulip 'Lilac Wonder'
A truly wonderful and aptly named botanical tulip, 'Lilac Wonder' is a form of Tulipa saxatilis (bakeri group). It is celebrated for its charming, bowl-shaped flowers that open wide in the sunshine. The petals are a beautiful shade of soft lilac-pink, which provides a stunning contrast to the large, striking, golden-yellow centre. The effect is like a little drop of sunshine held in a pink cup. Each stem can produce several flowers, creating a generous display from a single bulb. The glossy green leaves are also attractive. 'Lilac Wonder' is a fantastic performer, winning the RHS Award of Garden Merit for its reliability and beauty. It is an excellent choice for perennialising, forming substantial, spreading clumps over the years that will brighten any sunny corner of the garden in mid-spring.
