Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Ice Cream, often admired for its creamy white with pink outer petals colouring, is a bulb variety especially well suited to pots & containers.

Tulipa 'Ice Cream' brings a touch of theatre to spring planting, with a sumptuous, peony-flowered tulip that looks positively indulgent in a pot and wonderfully composed in the border. The blooms open in creamy white, framed by pink outer petals, creating a poised, patisserie-pretty effect that suits everything from generous drifts to a dedicated cutting patch.

Plant in autumn, tuck into a sheltered position, and let the upright stems rise through mid-green foliage for a refined April–May display. Fully hardy and pleasingly straightforward, it’s a natural choice for smart containers by the door, or for lifting the tone of spring borders with a quietly luxurious flourish.

Where to Plant:

Tulipa 'Ice Cream' (Tulip) needs full-sun, partial sun and a warm, sheltered position for the best flowering. Plant into fertile, humus-rich soil that drains well, and choose a spot protected from strong winds, especially for taller varieties.

How to Plant:

Plant bulb from September to December once conditions are suitable. Set them at the correct depth for the variety, spacing 10–15cm apart where relevant, then firm in gently and water well after planting.

Aftercare:

Water regularly in dry weather and feed every two to three weeks once buds appear. Stake taller stems early and deadhead to keep plants flowering. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally before lifting or protecting bulb according to local conditions.
