Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Double Surprise, often admired for its white with pink splashes and light green tones colouring, is a bulb variety especially well suited to beds & borders.

Tulipa ‘Double Surprise’ is a beautifully poised, late-spring tulip with sumptuous, peony-flowered blooms. Each ivory-white petal is artistically brushed and splashed with pink, with a faint suggestion of green in the mix—an effortlessly chic choice for refined spring displays.

Held on sturdy stems above neat grey-green foliage, it brings a composed elegance to beds and borders and is equally at home in handsome patio containers. Plant in autumn for a polished flourish through April and May, and enjoy its quietly opulent double flowers at close quarters.

Where to Plant:

Tulipa 'Double Surprise' (Tulip) needs full-sun and a warm, sheltered position for the best flowering. Plant into fertile, humus-rich soil that drains well, and choose a spot protected from strong winds, especially for taller varieties.

How to Plant:

Plant bulb from September to December once conditions are suitable. Set them at the correct depth for the variety, spacing 10-15cm apart where relevant, then firm in gently and water well after planting.

Aftercare:

Water regularly in dry weather and feed every two to three weeks once buds appear. Stake taller stems early and deadhead to keep plants flowering. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally before lifting or protecting bulb according to local conditions.
