Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Blushing Parrot, often admired for its pink, white, red colouring, is a bulb variety especially well suited to borders.

Tulipa 'Blushing Parrot' is a beautifully theatrical parrot tulip, prized for its ruffled, painterly petals and softly shifting colour. Opening cream-white, each bloom gradually flushes with rosy pink and deeper edging as it matures—utterly charming in pots by the door and quietly magnificent in a spring border.

With strong, upright stems and a refined presence, it also makes an excellent late-spring cut flower—particularly when gathered just as the buds begin to show their first hint of blush.

  • Ruffled, parrot-style flowers with a cream-white base and pink-red blushing edges
  • Splendid in containers and front-of-border plantings
  • Ideal for cutting in late spring

Where to Plant:

Tulipa 'Blushing Parrot' (Tulip) needs full-sun, partial sun and a warm, sheltered position for the best flowering. Plant into fertile, humus-rich soil that drains well, and choose a spot protected from strong winds, especially for taller varieties.

How to Plant:

Plant bulb from September to December once conditions are suitable. Set them at the correct depth for the variety, spacing 10-15cm apart where relevant, then firm in gently and water well after planting.

Aftercare:

Water regularly in dry weather and feed every two to three weeks once buds appear. Stake taller stems early and deadhead to keep plants flowering. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally before lifting or protecting bulb according to local conditions.
