A truly sensational and award-winning Large-Cupped daffodil, 'Chromacolour' is prized for its enormous flowers and stunning colour. The blooms feature broad, pure white outer petals that provide a crisp, clean backdrop for the main event: a very large, bowl-shaped, and heavily ruffled trumpet. The cup is a magnificent, intense shade of deep coral-pink to rosy-apricot that deepens as the flower matures. The contrast is breathtaking. It is a very strong grower with sturdy stems, and holds the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit. It's a must-have for a show-stopping display in the mid-spring border and makes a magnificent cut flower.
The name 'Chromacolour' literally means 'intense colour', which is a perfect description for the vibrant, almost fluorescent, coral-pink cup that makes this variety so famous.

Where to Plant:
This is a truly spectacular and flamboyant large-cupped daffodil, producing huge flowers with broad white petals and a very large, flared and ruffled trumpet. The trumpet opens a soft yellow and matures to a deep salmon-pink, creating a stunning effect. It is a real statement variety, perfect for prominent positions in borders or in large patio containers where its size and colouring can be admired. It grows well in full sun or light shade; the pink tones are often stronger when shielded from intense sun.
How to Plant:
You should plant the large bulbs in the autumn. Dig a hole to a depth that is about twice the height of the bulb, usually around 15cm (6 inches), and place the bulb inside with the pointed tip facing up. To accommodate the large flowers, space the bulbs about 15cm apart to give each one room to shine. Water once after planting to settle the soil.
Aftercare:
After the magnificent flowers have faded, it is good practice to deadhead them by snipping off the flower head before it can form a seed pod. The most important rule is to let the foliage die back naturally for a minimum of six weeks. Do not be tempted to cut it back or tie it into knots. This is an essential period where the bulb stores energy, ensuring it has the strength to produce its magnificent flowers again the following spring.
We partner with elite growers to provide only top-size, professional-grade bulbs. Bigger bulbs mean stronger roots and more spectacular blooms.

I ordered the mixed hyacinth collection and the scent in my garden this April was absolutely heavenly. Every single bulb produced a strong, beautiful flower and the colours were stunning together. A fantastic purchase, I'll be back for more next year!
