Bloom or Bust Guarantee

Martagon lilies are treasured for their elegant, downward-facing blooms and their ability to naturalise gently in light shade, giving borders a softer, more woodland character.

Lilium 'Arabian Knight' is a striking martagon lily with richly reflexed orange flowers, each marked with deep mahogany spotting, creating an elegant woodland effect in early summer borders.

Reaching around 120 cm tall, it carries multiple blooms on upright stems and looks especially effective threaded through shrubs, ferns or naturalistic planting where its nodding flowers can be appreciated up close.

Plant bulbs in fertile, well-drained soil in sun or light shade, aiming for a cool root run and shelter from waterlogging. Once established, martagon lilies are long-lived and return reliably each year.

Water during dry spells in active growth and allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering so the bulbs can replenish for the following season.

Where to Plant:

Plant lilies in a sunny position or light partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. They appreciate a spot where the flowers can enjoy sun while the roots stay cool among surrounding plants or mulch.

How to Plant:

Plant bulbs with the pointed tip upwards at around three times their own depth. Space them evenly in groups for a natural look and incorporate organic matter to improve moisture retention without making the soil heavy.

Aftercare:

Water during active growth, especially in dry weather, and remove faded blooms before seed forms. Leave the stems and foliage to die back naturally so bulbs can store energy for the following season.
