Bloom or Bust Guarantee

Gladioli are among the best summer cut flowers, producing a succession of blooms on each stem and bringing height, colour and rhythm to sunny planting schemes.

Gladiolus 'Prima Verde' stands out for its unusual green-yellow flowers, carried in elegant succession along tall spikes that add lightness and a fresh, contemporary note to summer borders.

It grows to around 120 cm and makes an excellent cut flower, with each stem opening gradually from the base upwards for a long vase life and extended garden display.

Plant corms in a sunny, sheltered spot in spring once the soil begins to warm, using well-drained, reasonably fertile ground and avoiding places that stay wet after rain.

Water in dry weather, especially as buds form, and lift corms after the foliage fades in colder areas for dry, frost-free winter storage.

Where to Plant:

Grow gladioli in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil with shelter from strong winds. They are excellent for borders and cutting patches where their tall flower spikes can rise above lower planting.

How to Plant:

Plant corms in spring once the soil begins to warm, spacing them evenly and setting them several centimetres deep with the pointed side upwards. Successional planting every couple of weeks helps extend the flowering season.

Aftercare:

Keep plants watered in dry spells and stake taller stems if the site is exposed. Lift corms after foliage yellows in autumn in colder areas, dry them thoroughly and store frost free until replanting.
