Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

‘Elvira’, often admired for its pink colouring, is a bulb variety especially well suited to beds and borders.

Gladiolus nanus ‘Elvira’ is a refined, dwarf gladiolus, bearing softly pink flowers on neat, upright stems. It brings early-summer colour with a poised, elegant presence—particularly well-suited to borders and equally charming when cut for the house.

Compact yet impactful, this variety reaches around 60cm, offering a considered way to introduce gladioli without overwhelming smaller spaces. Plant in groups for a more natural, generous display.

Why you’ll love it

Where to Plant:

Gladiolus nanus ‘Elvira’ needs full-sun and a warm, sheltered position for the best flowering. Plant into fertile, humus-rich soil that drains well, and choose a spot protected from strong winds, especially for taller varieties.

How to Plant:

Plant bulb from April to May once conditions are suitable. Set them at the correct depth for the variety, spacing 15cm apart where relevant, then firm in gently and water well after planting.

Aftercare:

Water regularly in dry weather and feed every two to three weeks once buds appear. Stake taller stems early and deadhead to keep plants flowering. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally before lifting or protecting bulb according to local conditions.
