Bloom or Bust Guarantee

Striped Bird, often admired for its white with purple striping colouring, is a corm variety especially well suited to pots & containers.

Crocus 'Striped Bird' is a charming, early species crocus with clean white petals elegantly brushed and feathered in violet-purple. Nestle it into gravel gardens, tuck it along the front of borders, or dot it through lawns for a natural, meadow-like look that feels beautifully unforced.

Compact and reliably perennial, it also performs superbly in pots—particularly when planted in generous drifts for a crisp, uplifting display in late winter and early spring. A quietly hardworking choice for pollinator-friendly planting when little else is in flower.

Where to Plant:

Crocus 'Striped Bird' (Species Crocus) needs full-sun, partial sun and a warm, sheltered position for the best flowering. Plant into fertile, humus-rich soil that drains well, and choose a spot protected from strong winds, especially for taller varieties.

How to Plant:

Plant corm from September to December once conditions are suitable. Set them at the correct depth for the variety, spacing 5-8 cm apart apart where relevant, then firm in gently and water well after planting.

Aftercare:

Water regularly in dry weather and feed every two to three weeks once buds appear. Stake taller stems early and deadhead to keep plants flowering. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally before lifting or protecting corm according to local conditions.
