Bloom or Bust Guarantee

Fuscotinctus, often admired for its yellow with bronze-purple markings colouring, is a corm variety especially well suited to pots & containers.

Crocus chrysanthus 'Fuscotinctus' is a rather refined little species crocus, opening early with neat, goblet-like blooms in warm gold, delicately feathered with bronze-purple. It brings a considered touch of colour just as winter begins to loosen its grip—particularly charming threaded through lawns, tucked into gravel, or dressed in smart spring pots by the door.

Reliable, fully hardy and effortless to naturalise, it forms tidy clumps year on year in well-drained ground. Plant in autumn and look forward to a poised late-winter display, with flowers that are welcome to early pollinators.

Where to Plant:

Crocus 'Fuscotinctus' (Species Crocus) needs full-sun, partial sun and a warm, sheltered position for the best flowering. Plant into fertile, humus-rich soil that drains well, and choose a spot protected from strong winds, especially for taller varieties.

How to Plant:

Plant corm from September to December once conditions are suitable. Set them at the correct depth for the variety, spacing 5-8 cm apart apart where relevant, then firm in gently and water well after planting.

Aftercare:

Water regularly in dry weather and feed every two to three weeks once buds appear. Stake taller stems early and deadhead to keep plants flowering. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally before lifting or protecting corm according to local conditions.
