Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Caerulea, often admired for its blue-purple colouring, is a bulb variety especially well suited to naturalising.

Camassia 'Caerulea' is an elegant, statuesque bulb for late spring, sending up refined spires of star-shaped violet-blue flowers above fresh, linear foliage. It has a wonderfully natural poise—equally at home threaded through meadow-style grass, used in generous drifts at the woodland edge, or brought forward in mixed borders where its height adds calm structure.

Plant in autumn and allow it time to settle; once established, it returns faithfully and can gently increase over the years. For the most effortless look, weave through grass and let the stems rise like a quiet flourish in May and June.

Where to Plant:

Camassia 'Caerulea' needs full-sun, partial sun and a warm, sheltered position for the best flowering. Plant into fertile, humus-rich soil that drains well, and choose a spot protected from strong winds, especially for taller varieties.

How to Plant:

Plant bulb from September to December once conditions are suitable. Set them at the correct depth for the variety, spacing 20-30cm apart where relevant, then firm in gently and water well after planting.

Aftercare:

Water regularly in dry weather and feed every two to three weeks once buds appear. Stake taller stems early and deadhead to keep plants flowering. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally before lifting or protecting bulb according to local conditions.
