Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Blue Shades Blanda, often admired for its violet-blue colouring, is a corm variety especially well suited to pots & containers.

Anemone blanda 'Blue Shades' is a quietly enchanting little anemone, sending up clear violet-blue, daisy-like flowers just above neat, dark green foliage in early spring. Low-growing and beautifully natural in character, it is particularly lovely in informal drifts beneath deciduous shrubs, along woodland margins, or nestled into pots by the front door where the first colour of the year is most appreciated.

Plant the corms in autumn into humus-rich, well-drained soil and allow them to settle in; in their first season they establish quickly and then return each spring with increasing charm. An excellent choice for underplanting and gentle, pollinator-friendly planting schemes.

Where to Plant:

Anemone 'Blue Shades Blanda' needs partial sun and a warm, sheltered position for the best flowering. Plant into fertile, humus-rich soil that drains well, and choose a spot protected from strong winds, especially for taller varieties.

How to Plant:

Plant corm from September to December once conditions are suitable. Set them at the correct depth for the variety, spacing 8–10cm apart where relevant, then firm in gently and water well after planting.

Aftercare:

Water regularly in dry weather and feed every two to three weeks once buds appear. Stake taller stems early and deadhead to keep plants flowering. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally before lifting or protecting corm according to local conditions.
