Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

This allium is a lover, not a fighter! Its delicate, open flower heads are designed to dance and sway in the wind, adding gentle movement to the garden.

Named for the god of love, 'Eros' is a captivatingly romantic allium. It produces delicate, airy umbels of pale lilac-pink, star-shaped flowers that seem to float on slender stems. The flower heads are about 4 inches across and have a very open, lacy structure, giving them a whimsical and ethereal quality. This variety is perfect for creating a soft, dreamy look in a cottage garden or a naturalistic planting scheme. It is exceptionally beautiful when swaying in a gentle breeze, mingling with fine grasses and other delicate perennials. A truly enchanting and graceful addition to the late spring border.

Where to Plant:

Select a location that receives full sun for most of the day to encourage strong growth and the best flowering performance. This variety prefers a light, sandy, well-drained soil. It is an excellent choice for a rockery, the edge of a gravel path, or the very front of a sunny, well-drained border where its delicate, rosy-pink flowers won't be overshadowed by larger plants. Good drainage is key to its survival during wet winters.

How to Plant:

The ideal planting time is in the autumn. Plant the small bulbs at a depth of about 8-10cm, ensuring the pointed tip is facing upwards. Space them approximately 10cm apart from each other. For a naturalistic and charming effect, plant them in generous drifts or clumps rather than in straight lines. A single watering after planting is all that's required to get them started.

Aftercare:

This allium is very low-maintenance. It is perfectly happy in drier soils once established and will not need supplemental watering unless there is a very prolonged drought during its growing period. Like all alliums, it is crucial to let the strappy foliage die back and yellow completely after flowering has finished. This process replenishes the bulb's energy stores for a reliable display the next year. The spent flower heads are unobtrusive and can be left to fade naturally.
