Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Finola' is known for its exceptionally long vase life, making it a top choice for florists who want a romantic, peony-lookalike in spring.

Finola' is the very embodiment of grace and elegance in the tulip world. Its large, peony-style double blooms are a masterclass in subtlety, featuring a delicate and sophisticated blend of colours. The petals are primarily a soft, creamy white, gently flushed with the softest baby pink, while subtle streaks of fresh green flicker through the base of the flower, adding depth and a naturalistic touch. The flowers are generously packed with silky petals, creating a full, ruffled, and incredibly romantic look that stands out in any garden setting. What truly sets 'Finola' apart is its remarkable longevity, both in the garden and in a vase. The sturdy stems hold the heavy blooms aloft with ease, and its performance as a cut flower is second to none, making it a firm favourite among florists and gardeners who love to create their own bouquets. It's a truly sophisticated and reliable choice for adding a touch of refined beauty to borders and pots.

Where to Plant:

A beautiful and romantic double late tulip, 'Finola' produces large, peony-like blooms that are a lovely soft pink and cream, often with hints of green on the outer petals. Unusually for a double tulip, it can produce multiple flowers per stem. The substantial flower heads need a sheltered location, protected from strong spring winds and rain. For the best display, plant it in a position that receives full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. It is a superb choice for a statement in a border and looks wonderful in large pots.

How to Plant:

The bulbs should be planted late in the autumn, during October or November. Dig a generous hole and plant each bulb at least 15cm (6 inches) deep, or roughly twice the height of the bulb itself. Deeper planting can help anchor the stems. Place the bulb with the pointed tip facing the sky and space them about 10-15cm apart to create a full display. Water once after planting.

Aftercare:

Like most highly complex double tulips, this variety is not reliably perennial and is best treated as an annual for a guaranteed show each year. To try and encourage it to return, you must remove the spent flower head once the petals have fallen to stop it forming seed. It is then essential to allow the foliage to die back completely, leaving it for at least six weeks after flowering before removing it. Feeding with a liquid tomato feed during this period can also help.
