Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Tête-à-tête' is French for a private conversation between two people. The name was given to the original variety because its stems often produce a pair of flowers that "face" each other. 'Tete Boucle' means "curly head," referring to its ruffled, double form.

A delightful and wildly popular variety, 'Tete Boucle' is the charming double-flowered version of the world-famous 'Tete-a-Tete' daffodil. This miniature marvel produces multiple blooms from each stem, creating a wonderfully full and long-lasting display. The flowers are a cheerful, rich golden-yellow, with layers of outer petals framing a central cluster of smaller, ruffled petals that are often flecked with orange. This gives the blooms a lovely, tousled, pom-pom like appearance. Its short, sturdy stature, incredible profusion of flowers, and early bloom time make 'Tete Boucle' an absolute must-have for bringing a powerful punch of colour to pots, window boxes, and the very front of garden borders.

Where to Plant:

A charming and relatively new variety, 'Tête Bouclé' is a fully double-flowered version of the beloved miniature daffodil 'Tête-à-Tête'. It produces delightful, ruffled, golden-yellow flowers, often with more than one bloom per stem. Its dwarf, compact habit makes it a perfect choice for all small-scale plantings, including pots, window boxes, rockeries, and for edging paths and borders. It is very reliable and grows happily in full sun or partial shade in any well-drained soil.

How to Plant:

You should plant the small bulbs in the autumn for a cheerful display early the following spring. Dig a hole and plant each bulb about 10cm (4 inches) deep, ensuring the pointed end is facing the sky. They are most effective when planted in tight, dense clumps to create a full and fluffy-looking display. Space the bulbs about 8-10cm apart from each other.

Aftercare:

This is a very easy and rewarding daffodil. The most critical task is to let the grassy foliage die back completely on its own for at least six weeks after flowering has finished. This is especially important for bulbs grown in containers. Do not cut the leaves back while they are green, as this is when the bulb is gathering energy for next year's performance. It will form bigger clumps each year.
