Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

The name 'Amber Castle' evokes images of ancient, honey-coloured stone castles glowing in the sunset, a perfect metaphor for the warm, rich, and stately appearance of this beautiful flower.

A truly magnificent and opulent Double daffodil, 'Amber Castle' brings a warm, romantic glow to the mid-spring garden. The very large, peony-like blooms are packed with layers of ruffled petals, creating a wonderfully full and luxurious display. The colour is a sophisticated and beautiful blend of soft amber, warm apricot, and creamy-yellow, with the shades mingling to create a rich, multi-tonal effect. The flowers are held on strong stems and possess a delightful, sweet fragrance. 'Amber Castle' is a fantastic choice for adding a touch of romance and luxury to borders and makes a spectacular cut flower for creating lavish bouquets.

Where to Plant:

A beautiful and distinctive large-cupped daffodil, 'Amber Castle' produces large flowers with creamy-white outer petals and a flared, ruffled trumpet of a rich amber-pink. It is very versatile and will grow happily in borders, in containers, or naturalised in grass. For the best colouring of the cup, it will benefit from a position in full sun or light, dappled shade. It is happy in any reasonably fertile, well-drained soil.

How to Plant:

Daffodil bulbs should be planted in the autumn, anytime from September to November. Unlike smaller bulbs, they need to be planted quite deeply. Dig a hole to a depth that is roughly twice the height of the bulb itself, which is typically about 15cm (6 inches). Place the bulb in the hole with the pointed tip facing upwards. Space bulbs at least 10-15cm apart to give them room to develop into a healthy clump.

Aftercare:

After the flowers have faded, you can deadhead them by snipping off the spent bloom and the green seedpod behind it. This directs energy back to the bulb. The most important rule is to allow the foliage to die back naturally for at least six weeks after flowering. Do not cut it off or tie it in knots. If planted in a lawn, do not mow the area during this period. This is essential for ensuring a good display of flowers the following year.
