Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Each Mystery Bulb Rescue Box gives you a one-of-a-kind lucky dip of still-plantable bulbs, creating layers of colour and texture that unfold in your garden over the seasons.

This Mystery Bulb Rescue Box brings together a generous mix of quality flower bulbs chosen to give you colour and interest across the seasons. Each box is a true surprise, blending different shapes and heights so your pots and borders feel full, layered and full of life as the flowers emerge.

Plant them in mixed borders, large containers or along paths where you can really enjoy their changing display. Taller varieties lend themselves beautifully to the back of a bed, while shorter, more compact types tuck in neatly at the front or in pots by the back door. Many of the bulbs will be suitable for naturalising, so you can look forward to them returning and spreading gently year after year.

Because every box is a one-off mix, no two gardens will look exactly the same. Part of the pleasure is in waiting to see what appears: soft pastels, richer tones, bold accents and quieter fillers all working together to create a relaxed, informal feel. It’s an easy way to add more colour and texture without having to plan every variety in advance.

The bulbs are selected to be well worth planting now and are ideal for home gardeners who enjoy a bit of surprise and discovery. Simply tuck them into well-drained soil, keep them watered while they establish, and let the display unfold – a satisfying mix of rescued blooms that rewards you with weeks of interest for very little effort.

Where to Plant:

Plant your Mystery Bulb Rescue Box in well-drained soil in full sun to light partial shade, where you can enjoy the changing display from paths, patios or windows. The bulbs are ideal for mixed borders, large containers and naturalistic planting, where different heights and flower shapes can mingle together. Group them in drifts or generous clumps for a relaxed, cottage-style look and to make the surprise mix feel full and abundant.

How to Plant:

Plant the bulbs as soon as you can, setting each one at roughly two to three times its own depth, with the growing tip facing upwards where visible. Space them about 8–15cm apart depending on size, a little closer in pots for a fuller effect, and mix them through the planting area so the final display feels natural. Work plenty of organic matter into the soil and add a little grit if drainage is heavy, then firm gently and water well to settle everything in.

Aftercare:

Keep the soil lightly moist while the bulbs are rooting and in active growth, avoiding waterlogging, and feed in spring with a balanced fertiliser to support strong flowering. Allow the leaves to die back naturally so the bulbs can store energy for the following season, especially in borders and lawns. In containers, refresh the compost and top-dress with a little slow-release feed each year, and in time you can lift and split crowded clumps to spread the rescued colour even further through the garden.
