Where to Plant:

Hyacinths thrive in a sunny or partially shaded spot with fertile, well-drained soil. They are perfect for the front of borders, lining pathways, or creating a focal point in patio pots and window boxes. For growing indoors, you can 'force' the bulbs in a special hyacinth vase for a beautiful and fragrant Christmas display.

How to Plant:

Plant your bulbs from September to December, about 10-15cm deep and 15cm apart, with the pointed end facing upwards. We recommend wearing gloves when handling hyacinth bulbs as they can cause mild skin irritation. Water well after planting to settle the soil.

Aftercare:

After the stunning flowers have faded, deadhead the stalk but allow the foliage to die back naturally. This process feeds the bulb, storing energy for the following year's display. Outdoor hyacinths will return for several years, though flower spikes may be a little less dense in subsequent seasons. Forced indoor bulbs are best planted out in the garden afterwards, as they are unlikely to force well for a second time.
