Where to Plant:

Hyacinths thrive in a sunny or lightly shaded spot in fertile, well-drained soil. They are perfect for the front of borders, lining a pathway, or planted in pots and containers where their stunning fragrance can be fully appreciated. They are also a classic choice for indoor forcing for an early burst of spring scent.

How to Plant:

Plant bulbs from September to December. Dig a hole around 15cm deep and place the bulb with the pointed end facing upwards. Space bulbs approximately 10-15cm apart. Wear gloves when handling hyacinth bulbs as they can cause mild skin irritation.

Aftercare:

Water well after planting and keep the soil moist during dry spells in autumn. Once flowering is over, allow the foliage to die back naturally; this feeds the bulb for the following year. Deadhead the faded flower spike to prevent seed formation and divert energy back to the bulb.
