Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

The variety's name is a perfect fit, as the heavily ruffled, red-and-white striped petals are said to resemble the voluminous, twirling dress of a dancer in full motion.

An absolute masterpiece of floral exuberance, 'Dancing Queen' is a spectacular double Amaryllis that lives up to its flamboyant name. It produces enormous, lavishly ruffled blooms, so densely packed with layers of petals that they create a magnificent, frothy display. The colouration is a joyous and festive spectacle of crisp white and bright, clear red. Each petal is artistically striped and feathered with red, creating a vibrant, candy-cane effect that is full of energy and movement. The frilly edges of the petals give the blooms a dynamic, restless quality, as if they are twirling in a dance. Held on strong, tall stems, these magnificent flowers are a true celebration in a pot, guaranteed to be the star of any show. 'Dancing Queen' is the perfect choice for anyone seeking a bold, glamorous, and joyful centrepiece with maximum visual impact and a delightful, festive spirit.

Where to Plant:

A truly flamboyant variety, 'Dancing Queen' produces huge, fully double, frilly flowers that resemble a ballgown, typically with dramatic red and white candy stripes. This tender bulb must be grown in a pot indoors. Choose a container that provides a snug fit, with only a few centimetres of space around the bulb's circumference. A position with bright, indirect light and consistent warmth is needed to coax it into growth and produce a strong flower spike.

How to Plant:

The bulb should be planted in the autumn for flowers in the winter. Fill a pot with a well-drained potting mix and plant the bulb so that its top third remains exposed. Water it well just once after planting, then place it in a warm spot and wait. Do not be tempted to water it again until you see the first sign of a green shoot, as this can cause the bulb to rot before it has a chance to grow.

Aftercare:

When the plant is in active growth, water it whenever the top inch of compost feels dry. Feed with a liquid fertiliser every few weeks to build up the bulb's strength. Rotate the pot every few days to prevent the stem from leaning towards the light. After the blooms have faded, cut off the flower stalk but keep the leaves growing by continuing to water and feed until late summer. Then, stop watering completely and let the bulb rest in a cool, dark place for 8-10 weeks before starting the cycle anew.
