Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

This is a modern, virus-free version of the historic "broken" Rembrandt tulips, which got their feathered patterns from a virus. This variety has the look, but with healthy genetics.

Capture the spirit of the Old Dutch Masters with 'Rem's Favourite', a stunning Triumph tulip that looks like a living painting. The flowers provide a beautiful canvas of creamy, ivory-white, which is then heavily and artistically streaked and feathered with deep raspberry-purple flames. Each flower is a unique work of art, with the patterns varying from one bloom to the next, creating a dynamic and fascinating display. This variety is a modern, healthy, and virus-free reincarnation of the historic "broken" Rembrandt tulips, which famously got their patterns from a virus. 'Rem's Favourite' offers all the antique beauty and character of those prized originals but with robust, reliable garden performance. It's a guaranteed conversation starter in borders, beds, and containers, and makes an exceptional cut flower.

Where to Plant:

This is a bold and beautiful Triumph tulip, with a look that harks back to the famous 'broken' tulips of the Dutch Golden Age. It has large, shapely flowers of creamy ivory, each petal heavily flamed and feathered with a deep raspberry-purple. As a Triumph tulip, it has strong, weather-resistant stems, making it an excellent choice for borders and formal bedding schemes, as well as for containers. Plant it in a position that receives full sun in any fertile, well-drained soil.

How to Plant:

The bulbs should be planted late in the autumn, during October or November. Dig a generous hole and plant each bulb at least 15cm (6 inches) deep, or roughly twice the height of the bulb itself. Planting deeply in a sunny, well-drained spot is the key to encouraging it to flower for several years. Place the bulb with the pointed tip facing the sky and space them about 10-15cm apart to create a full display.

Aftercare:

This robust variety has a good chance of returning for a few years. To help it do so, deadhead the flowers once they have faded by snapping off the head. Allow the foliage to die back completely and turn yellow and straw-like before removing it; this takes about six weeks and is when the bulb builds up its energy for next year. Feeding with a liquid tomato feed after flowering until the foliage starts to yellow can also be very beneficial.
