Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

The varied flower forms within modern dahlias give gardeners enormous design flexibility, from soft decorative types to more pointed forms that bring movement and texture.

Dahlia 'Fenna Baaij' bears lively lilac-pink blooms with a lightly twisted form, giving planting a brighter, more informal energy through the second half of summer.

The flowers are held on strong stems and suit both borders and cutting, while the colouring sits especially well with silver foliage, grasses and other soft-toned companions.

Plant in a sunny, sheltered place after frost risk has passed, choosing fertile soil that drains well while staying moist in active growth.

Regular cutting and deadheading will keep new stems coming, and the tubers should be lifted for winter protection in colder gardens.

Where to Plant:

Choose a sunny, sheltered position with fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Dahlias thrive in warmth and perform best where they receive plenty of light and good air movement.

How to Plant:

Start tubers under cover in spring or plant out once frosts have passed. Set the crown just below the soil surface, spacing plants well so stems have room to develop. Add support early for taller varieties and improve soil with compost before planting.

Aftercare:

Water regularly in dry spells and feed through the growing season to support repeat flowering. Deadhead often to keep new buds coming, and lift tubers after the first frost in colder areas for frost-free winter storage.
