Where to Plant:

A mixed collection of crocuses is perfect for creating a cheerful, jewel-like carpet of colour to herald the arrival of spring. They are incredibly versatile and can be planted at the front of borders, in pots and window boxes, or naturalised in lawns and under the light shade of deciduous trees. They will perform best in a position that receives full sun or light shade, in any soil that is reasonably well-drained.

How to Plant:

Plant the corms in the autumn, anytime from September to November. Plant each corm about 8-10cm (3-4 inches) deep with the pointed tip facing skywards. If you are planting in a border or lawn and want a natural look, simply scatter them across the area and plant them where they fall. Space them at least 8cm apart to give them room to form clumps. Water the area once after planting.

Aftercare:

Crocuses are very easy to look after. The single most important rule is to allow the narrow, grassy foliage to continue growing and then die back completely on its own after the flowers have faded. Do not cut it off or mow the area for at least six weeks. This period is when the corm gathers energy from the sun to ensure a good display the following year. They do not need any additional watering once established.
