Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Bridal Crown' is part of a group often called "cluster-flowered" daffodils. Its ability to produce multiple, fragrant, rosette-like blooms on each stem makes it look like a small bridal bouquet.

A spectacular and incredibly fragrant variety, 'Bridal Crown' is a celebrated Double Tazetta daffodil that produces a beautiful bouquet from each stem. Each strong stem carries a cluster of 3-5 exquisite, fully double flowers. The blooms are composed of multiple layers of creamy-white petals, with a central ruff of shorter, honey-orange segments, creating a rich and opulent appearance. The fragrance is powerful, sweet, and musky, making it a garden superstar and a florist's dream. It is a reliable and vigorous grower, perfect for adding a touch of romance and an abundance of perfume to the mid-spring garden. 'Bridal Crown' is also an excellent choice for forcing indoors for a fragrant winter display.

Where to Plant:

This is a beautiful and hugely popular double-flowered daffodil, producing clusters of highly fragrant, creamy-white flowers with hints of soft yellow in the ruffled centre. Due to its intoxicating scent, it is an excellent choice for pots and containers placed near a doorway or on a patio. In the garden, plant it in a sunny border in any reasonably fertile, well-drained soil. A spot with some shelter from heavy spring rain is beneficial as this can weigh down the heavy flower heads.

How to Plant:

The bulbs should be planted in the autumn, anytime from September to November. Dig a hole and plant each bulb at a depth that is roughly twice its own height, which is typically about 15cm (6 inches). Ensure the pointed tip is facing upwards. Space bulbs at least 10-15cm apart to give them room to develop and to ensure good air circulation around the foliage. Water the area well once after planting to settle the soil.

Aftercare:

After the fragrant blooms have faded, you can snip off the spent flower heads to prevent the plant from wasting energy on making seeds. The most critical task is to allow the foliage to die back naturally for a minimum of six weeks after flowering has finished. Do not cut it back or tie it in knots during this period. This allows the leaves to photosynthesise and feed the bulb for a good display the following year.
