Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Named after the famous blue and white Dutch pottery, this iconic hyacinth's colour and fragrance perfectly mirror the classic ceramic designs of Delft.

Bring the timeless beauty of Dutch pottery to your garden with Hyacinth 'Delft Blue'. This classic, award-winning variety is beloved for its densely packed spires of porcelain-blue, star-shaped florets and an intoxicatingly sweet fragrance that defines the scent of spring. Holding the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be assured of its reliability and superb performance. 'Delft Blue' is perfect for creating impactful drifts of colour in borders, lining a pathway, or filling pots on the patio where its perfume can be truly appreciated. For a classic combination, plant alongside yellow daffodils like 'Tête-à-Tête' or white tulips.

Where to Plant:

Choose a spot in full sun or partial shade with well-drained soil. Hyacinths are fantastic for the front of borders, lining paths, or in containers near a door or window to enjoy their powerful fragrance. They appreciate a sheltered position to protect the heavy flower heads from strong winds.

How to Plant:

Plant bulbs 15cm deep and about 10-15cm apart, with the pointed end facing upwards. For a dense display in pots, you can plant them closer together. Water well after planting to settle the soil. Always wear gloves when handling hyacinth bulbs as they can cause skin irritation.

Aftercare:

Once flowering is over, deadhead the faded flower spike but allow the foliage to die back naturally. This process feeds the bulb for next year's display. In subsequent years, the flowers may be looser but are still beautiful and perfect for a more natural look in the garden.
