Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

The name 'Tête-à-Tête' is French for a private conversation between two people ("head-to-head"), a nod to the way the flower heads often appear in pairs on a single stem.

Arguably the world's most popular miniature daffodil, 'Tête-à-Tête' is a small but mighty harbinger of spring. Each bulb produces multiple stems, each carrying one to three perfectly formed, bright, sunshine-yellow flowers. The blooms have slightly swept-back petals and a neat, trumpet-shaped cup. Its short stature makes it incredibly robust and weather-resistant, perfect for even the most exposed gardens. It is an exceptionally reliable perennialiser, quickly forming dense, cheerful clumps that multiply year after year. Winner of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, it is a versatile and indispensable variety for bringing an early, welcome burst of colour to pots, rockeries, window boxes, and the very front of garden borders.

Where to Plant:

This is arguably the world's most popular miniature daffodil, loved for its reliability, cheerful nature, and long-lasting display. It produces one to three small, perfect, golden-yellow flowers per stem in early spring. Its dwarf habit makes it incredibly versatile and it is the perfect choice for pots, window boxes, rockeries, the very front of borders, or for naturalising in lawns. It will thrive in full sun or partial shade in any reasonably well-drained garden soil.

How to Plant:

You should plant the small bulbs in the autumn, from September to November. Dig a hole and plant each bulb at a depth of about 10cm (4 inches), which is roughly twice the height of the bulb itself. Ensure the pointed tip is facing upwards. They are most effective when planted in tight, dense clumps to create a full and vibrant display. Space the bulbs about 8-10cm apart from each other.

Aftercare:

This is a very easy and rewarding daffodil. The most critical task is to let the grassy foliage die back completely on its own for at least six weeks after flowering has finished. This is especially important for bulbs grown in containers to ensure they have enough energy to return the next year. Do not cut the leaves back while they are green. It will form bigger, more impressive clumps each year with no other attention needed.
