Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Unlike classic single-stemmed hyacinths, 'Blue Star' often produces multiple, looser flower stalks per bulb for a more relaxed, cottage-garden feel.

Breathe in the iconic scent of spring with Hyacinth 'Blue Star'! This award-winning variety is a true garden classic, guaranteed to lift your spirits after a long winter. Each bulb produces magnificent spires packed with starry, sky-blue florets, each petal delicately marked with a deeper indigo stripe. Winner of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, 'Blue Star' is celebrated for its reliable performance and intense, sweet fragrance that will perfume your entire garden. It's perfect for creating blocks of colour in borders, lining a pathway, or filling pots on the patio. Plant with white daffodils for a stunning blue-and-white display.

Where to Plant:

Hyacinths thrive in a sunny or lightly shaded spot in fertile, well-drained soil. They are perfect for the front of borders, formal bedding schemes, and containers near a door or window where their powerful fragrance can be enjoyed. Always wear gloves when handling hyacinth bulbs, as they can cause skin irritation.

How to Plant:

Plant your bulbs from September to December. Dig a hole around 15cm deep and place the bulb inside with the pointed tip facing upwards. Space bulbs approximately 10-15cm apart from each other. In pots, you can plant them closer together for a fuller display. Water well after planting.

Aftercare:

Once the flowers have faded, deadhead the stalk to prevent seed formation. Allow the foliage to die back naturally; this is crucial for the bulb to store energy for next year's bloom. In subsequent years, the flower spikes may be a little looser, which gives a more natural look.
