Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Rubinstern, often admired for its orange, red colouring, is a bare root variety especially well suited to borders.

Echinacea purpurea ‘Rubinstern’ is a notably upright purple coneflower, carrying ruby-red, daisy-like blooms set around a warm orange-brown central cone. It brings a confident lift of colour from late summer into autumn, sitting particularly well in sunny borders and cutting gardens.

Supplied as bare root plants, ‘Rubinstern’ settles into a tidy clump and makes a refined, cottage-garden style statement without fuss. Pollinator friendly and pleasingly long-lasting in arrangements, it is a dependable perennial for considered planting schemes.

Where to Plant:

Echinacea purpurea 'Rubinstern' needs full-sun and a warm, sheltered position for the best flowering. Plant into fertile, humus-rich soil that drains well, and choose a spot protected from strong winds, especially for taller varieties.

How to Plant:

Plant bare root from January to December once conditions are suitable. Set them at the correct depth for the variety, spacing the recommended spacing for the variety apart where relevant, then firm in gently and water well after planting.

Aftercare:

Water regularly in dry weather and feed every two to three weeks once buds appear. Stake taller stems early and deadhead to keep plants flowering. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally before lifting or protecting bare root according to local conditions.
