Our "Bloom or Bust" Promise

Mount Everest, often admired for its white with light green flush colouring, is a bulb variety especially well suited to borders.

Allium stipitatum 'Mount Everest' is a statuesque allium of exemplary poise, lifting perfectly rounded globes of crisp white, star-shaped flowers above grey-green foliage. In late spring and early summer, its tall, upright stems bring a clean, architectural note to borders and gravel planting, and the flower heads are equally superb in a vase.

Plant in generous drifts for a composed, contemporary look, or thread through perennials and ornamental grasses for height and rhythm. Once established, this perennial bulb returns with reliable presence and a polished finish.

Where to Plant:

Allium 'Mount Everest' needs full-sun, partial sun and a warm, sheltered position for the best flowering. Plant into fertile, humus-rich soil that drains well, and choose a spot protected from strong winds, especially for taller varieties.

How to Plant:

Plant bulb from September to December once conditions are suitable. Set them at the correct depth for the variety, spacing 25cm apart where relevant, then firm in gently and water well after planting.

Aftercare:

Water regularly in dry weather and feed every two to three weeks once buds appear. Stake taller stems early and deadhead to keep plants flowering. After flowering, allow foliage to die back naturally before lifting or protecting bulb according to local conditions.
