Rudbeckia 'Prairie Sun' (Black-Eyed Susan)
A magnificent and show-stopping Black-Eyed Susan, 'Prairie Sun' is an award-winning perennial that brings a huge splash of sunshine to the late summer and autumn garden. It produces enormous, daisy-like flowers, often up to 15cm (6 inches) across. The blooms are stunning, with long, golden-yellow ray petals that are tipped with a softer, primrose-yellow, creating a beautiful halo effect. Unusually for a Rudbeckia, the large, raised central cone is not dark, but a fresh and vibrant apple-green, which adds to its unique beauty. The flowers are held on strong, branching stems above a clump of coarse, hairy leaves. It is a fantastic plant for adding bold, cheerful colour to the back of a border and is adored by bees and butterflies. It also makes a superb, long-lasting cut flower.
