Bloom or Bust Guarantee

Each spherical flower head can reach around 10cm across and is formed from scores of tiny star-shaped blooms.

Allium 'Giganteum' is a magnificent statement allium, lifting generous globes of lilac-pink flowers above the border on tall, assured stems. Its architectural scale gives late-spring planting a wonderfully considered air, while the individual starry florets remain light enough to mingle gracefully with perennials.

These premium 18/+ bulbs are particularly effective planted in measured groups through sunny borders. The flowers are much admired by pollinators, make superb cut stems and leave handsome seed heads for dried arrangements.

Where to Plant:

Allium 'Giganteum' performs best in full sun in a sheltered border with fertile, well-drained soil. Give its tall stems a position where the flower heads can rise through lower perennials without being exposed to strong winds.

How to Plant:

Plant the 18/+ bulbs from September to December at roughly three times their own depth, usually 15-20cm deep, with the pointed end facing upwards. Space bulbs 25-30cm apart and improve heavy soil with grit before planting.

Aftercare:

Water after planting, then keep the soil only lightly moist during active growth. Allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally after flowering so the bulb can replenish its reserves. Leave the sculptural seed heads standing or cut them for dried arrangements.
